Stretching over 79km, the Carnoules-Gardanne line was opened by the Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée (PLM) railway company in 1880. Although its passenger service ended in 1938, it continued to carry coal from Gardanne and bauxite from Brignoles until the early 1980s. More recently, railway enthusiasts from the Centre Var tourist train association decided to revive the line.

You will be transported back to the days of the Renault 4cv, accompanied by an amusing, nostalgic commentary, as your rail car (perhaps the famous Caravelle, or the red and white Picasso) threads its way between the hills of the Issole valley. Excursions depart from the Platanes station in Carnoules (on the route de Besse).

Rates

Adults €10, children €5, children under 4 free.

Opening times

The trains run from April to October. Group excursions, special events (Halloween, Christmas and gourmet trains) and special trips such as the enchanted train or snow train, can be booked all year round.
